Salvador, Bahia

15-05-2023

Cradle of the afro-brazilian culture, Salvador, Bahia is a must in Brazil. Between the fine sandy beaches, the colorful walls of Pelourinho, the acarajés (afro-brazilian gastronomy) and the capoeira, this city can leave no one indifferent.

Capital of the Bahia region well known for its beautiful coastline, Salvador remains a big city, third largest in Brazil. Moreover, even with its three million inhabitants, the atmosphere of the city is warm and gives the impression of a village.

The mix of historical center with colonial buildings, numerous churches (including the popular Senhor do Bonfim church), and a very marked Afro culture makes it a unique city in the world. Candomblé (afro-brazilian religion) and its carnival are indeed emblematic and there is no lack of cultural events linked to the afro-brazilian wealth of the city. February 2 is the day of the celebration of Yemanja, goddess of the oceans, promising unforgettable ceremonies for locals and tourists alike.
