The golden lion tamarin is one of the symbols of Brazilian biodiversity. Endemic to the Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro, it stands out thanks to its magnificent, bright orange fur.
In the 1970s, the species was on the verge of extinction, with only a few hundred individuals left. Today, it has slowly regained its place in nature, and can be observed in some protected reserves of the Mata Atlântica.
Encountering this rare little monkey in its natural habitat is an unforgettable experience, reminding us of the importance of preserving Brazil’s ecosystems.
