Agulhas Negras Peak

Located in Itatiaia National Park, a pioneer region when it comes to outdoor sports in Brazil. The first permanent conservation unit in the country, created in 1937, Itatiaia brings together some of the highest points of the Serra da Mantiqueira, right on the border between Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. It concentrates three of the ten highest mountains in Brazil and, because of that, it is a kind of playground for climbers and lovers of hiking. The scenario is unusual, it looks like almost nothing we have in Brazil. Fields of tall, dry bush, interspersed with rocks of varying sizes and surrounded by prominent granite peaks. Not only that, but it also offers good infrastructure, such as a camping area, with bathrooms and showers. In addition, they offer one of the only mountain hostels in Brazil, Abrigo Rebouças, at 2,350 meters above sea level. With 20 beds and stone walls, it is an alternative for those who do not want or cannot camp. Itatiaia National Park has hikes for athletes of all levels, from the most amateur to the most experienced. In the more than 120 square kilometers of the park, wild camps and crossings of several days are no longer allowed.
