Praia do Espelho (Mirror Beach)

Discovered relatively recently, the Praia do Espelho (Mirror Beach), on the southern coast of the Brazilian state of Bahia (BA), has seen its tourist audience increase dramatically in recent years, drawing the attention of many people outside the country. The Praia do Espelho, considered one of the best beaches in Brazil, takes its name from reflecting the sky during times of low tide. Very poetic, isn't it? Several points of it are famous for letting watch the rare phenomenon of the sky reflected in the calm and crystalline waters of Praia do Espelho. To be able to see this phenomenon it is necessary to study the tide tables and give preference to the times of low tide. The winds are also decisive: mirroring only happens when the water is perfectly smooth and still.
Bathers are recommended to also take a diving snorkel so as not to miss a visit to the various coral banks that constitute the Praia do Espelho.
However, visiting the place is not that cheap... Tents, bars, restaurants and inns are expensive. This is because the place, now very popular with both Brazilians and foreigners, was praised in articles in "The Telegraph" and "The Guardian" a few years ago, thus becoming world famous.
Getting to enjoy the beauty of this paradisiacal and exclusive place protected by a difficult and expensive access is not so easy: only those willing to pay the price will be able to dive into these waves and disconnect from ordinary life.
